The First Nations Summit, Province of British Columbia and UBCM - with funding from the Indigenous Business and Investment Council - have partnered in the development and release of Pathways to Collaboration, a series of case studies that showcases the growing number of successful economic development collaborations between First Nations and local governments.
This resource is intended to provide clear examples of lessons learned for communities interested in working together to create economic development opportunities. The Pathways to Collaboration series consists of several vignettes describing multi-community projects drawn from across the province and highlights the pathway activities of each, including protocols and communication agreements, shared tourism projects, and land-use planning and development initiatives.
The pathways communities take toward collaboration are unique, reflecting the context and activities of the communities involved. Like signposts along a pathway, these activities are identified throughout this series.
