The Complete Communities program supports local governments and modern Treaty First Nations to enhance their ability to make evidence-based land use planning decisions. The first application deadline is June 16, 2023.
Eligible activities include assessments of current community completeness; identification of strengths, opportunities and challenges; and development of potential actions that align with identified community goals and support creating more complete communities.
The program, which is funded through the Ministry of Housing, is administered by UBCM. Funding permitting, there will be a second intake with an application deadline of January 12, 2024.
A webinar for prospective applicants will be held on May 16, 2023. Prospective applicants are also advised to read the Complete Communities Guide that has been developed by the Ministry prior to submitting an application.
‘Complete communities’ is a broad concept and can be defined in several different ways. For the purposes of the Complete Communities program, complete communities are communities – or areas within a community – which provide a diversity of housing to meet identified community needs and accommodate people at all stages of life, and provide a wider range of employment opportunities, amenities, and services within a 15-20 minute walk.
