Child Care Planning Guide

Publishing Date

The Ministry of Children and Family Development has provided funding for the development of a local government child care planning resource guide. UBCM will manage the project, and aims to have the guide ready by early summer 2020.

The guide is intended to support local governments in BC in the creation of child care spaces and will identify best practices with regard to developing child care strategies and plans; financing child care; designing, building and licensing child care spaces; and working with child care operators.

To assist the development of the guide, UBCM is seeking interested local government staff to participate on an Advisory Committee. The Committee will help develop the scope of work for the project and provide advice to a consultant. The Advisory Committee will consist of 6 to 8 members, with regional representation and members from a mix of urban, rural and remote communities.

For questions regarding the resource guide or to indicate interest in participating on the Advisory Committee, please contact Marylyn Chiang, UBCM Senior Policy Analyst, by December 9th, 2019.
