Extended Absence from Regional District Board

Whereas subsection 2 of section 204 of the Local Government Act denies a board of a regional district the discretion to deal with an extended absence of a director due to illness or injury; And whereas the residents of an affected electoral area have petitioned the board of the Powell River Regional District to provide relief at its discretion: Therefore be it resolved that the Legislature of British Columbia be requested to amend subsection 2 of section 204 of the Local Government Act by deleting the reference to illness or injury, thus leaving the granting of leave to the discretion of the regional district board.
