Increase Community Health Supports for Mental Health

Whereas support for community health services, such as integrated mental health diagnoses and treatment, have failed to keep pace with the needs of our communities; And whereas intervening and responding to mental health crises places a growing demand on policing services, which are funded by local governments in many communities, and which are not structured or intended to be used as health care providers: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM request that the Province of British Columbia increase the funding to health organizations to provide additional community health resources, and work with policing bodies to implement integrated response plans for mental health crises.
