WHEREAS Canada Post has: a. implemented a new system for delivering mail; b. significantly raised the price of mailing letters, parcels and other items; and c. announced that it will be discontinuing door to door delivery of household and other mail: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM request that Canada Post: 1. delay the discontinuation of door to door delivery; 2. explain the replacement program of new community mail boxes; and 3. meet with local governments and their associations FCM and local government associations throughout the country and work with them on the implementation of a new plan that will best serve the residents of this country.
