Protection of Fish Habitat in Waterways

WHEREAS the City of North Vancouver has made significant investments in the protection of fish habitat in waterways that pass through our city and on our waterfront; AND WHEREAS the protection of natural habitats fish habitat included is an important value for the people of our community and in our Official Community Plan: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM call upon the federal government to abandon proposed changes to Section 351 of the Fisheries Act that would see the removal of provisions banning or limiting activities that result in the harmful alteration, disruption or destruction of fish habitat.
