Municipal Wastewater Systems

WHEREAS the federal government plans to implement the Municipal Wastewater Effluent Strategy by developing Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations under the federal Fisheries Act; AND WHEREAS the proposed regulation for municipal wastewater systems will require more stringent wastewater treatment, monitoring and reporting measures for systems that discharge to surface water and subject local governments to increased operational and capital costs as a result: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM work with the Province and the FCM to secure senior government financial support to assist local governments to abide by the new regulations.
