WHEREAS many regions within the Province experience a substantial influx of seasonal residents and tourists; AND WHEREAS the normal policing levels for these regions are established based on the year-round populations, as identified by Statistics Canada, which result in substantially lower police presence than the established, acceptable levels through several months of the year: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government be asked to re-examine its capacity to provide acceptable levels of policing during some portions of the year and that additional funding, potentially through the traffic fines revenue, be allocated to enable increased policing levels through voluntary overtime andor temporary assignment of additional members to areas with high seasonal population fluctuation.
