WHEREAS the Town of Smithers and others within the Bulkley Valley have an interest in the completion of the Bulkley Recreation Access Management Plan RAMP, which has been in progress for many years, and a community-supported RAMP has been identified as a priority for the implementation of the Bulkley Land and Resources Management Plan LRMP; AND WHEREAS benefits of completing the RAMP include improved ability to: 1 provide certainty for recreation users; 2 provide support for recreation organizations who build and maintain trails and structures; 3 promote tourism; 4 reduce conflicts in the community that can take considerable resources to address; and 5 foster mutual understanding and respect for each others recreational pursuits, amongst the community-at-large: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM request the Province of British Columbia provide funding to complete the Bulkley Valley Recreation Access Management Plan RAMP.
