Benefit Plan for Volunteer Fire Fighters

WHEREAS the Fire Services Liaison Group has identified in their Proposed FireRescue System Model an impending crisis related to the recruitment and retention of volunteer fire fighters; AND WHEREAS smaller local governments in an effort to attract and retain quality volunteers for fire departments, would benefit from a reasonably priced medicaldental benefit plan for volunteer fire fighters: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of British Columbia Municipalities be requested to work with existing carriers to design a medicaldental benefit plan, at a reasonable cost, specifically for volunteer fire fighters.
