WHEREAS the Capital Regional District Family Court and Youth Justice Committee has developed an integrated identification, diagnosis and mental health management service Pilot Projects to be delivered to children and youth at Rock Heights Middle School S.D. 63 and Belmont Secondary S.D. 62; AND WHEREAS the Union of British Columbia Municipalities passed resolution B153 in 2006 to encourage the development of mental health services along the lines of the Pilot Projects proposed by the Capital Regional District Family Court and Youth Justice Committee: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM request the Ministries of Education, Health and Children and Family Development work together to fund the Community Based Mental Health Pilot Projects.

The Strong, Safe and Supported Operational Plan for the Ministry of Children and Family Development speaks of our commitment to provide services within communities, and the Ministry will continue to work with school districts to provide our services for children and youth in schools wherever feasible.
