Cranberry Connector Road

WHEREAS the Cranberry Connector is a Forest Service Road which is a critical evacuation route for Nass Valley communities and an alternative route to inter-provincial Highway 16 during repeated emergency closures; AND WHEREAS the provincial government, throughout British Columbia, should invest in such roads where benefits to community safety and economic development are clearly demonstrated: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM request that the provincial government transfer responsibility for the Cranberry Connector to the Ministry of Transportation and begin a comprehensive upgrading program to facilitate year-round use.
