WHEREAS the practice of discarding materials is wasteful of natural resources, energy and money; AND WHEREAS it is the function of the schools to set an example of stewardship of our natural resources and to develop responsible citizenship in our students: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities lobby the provincial government to request that the concept of resource conservation, including waste reduction and recycling, be integrated province-wide into the environmental education curriculum at the elementary school level.
