WHEREAS the Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement may have significant negative consequences for local governments in British Columbia; AND WHEREAS local governments and the people of British Columbia were not consulted on the Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities demand that the Province of British Columbia suspend the Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement until such time as a full public consultation takes place on the agreement and the potential ramifications of the Trade Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement are enumerated and made public.
