Snow Clearing Winter Maintenance on Northern Highways

WHEREAS we have observed a continued decline of standards in respect to snow clearing and winter maintenance of the highways in our areas, and the economics of the region are being negatively impacted; AND WHEREAS as a result of the declining standards the driving publics safety has been compromised, which is evident from the many accidents and near misses experienced this winter: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM urge the Government of British Columbia to ensure sufficient funding is available to provide an adequate service, and to ensure an appropriate, transparent process of performance and financial audit is instituted to ensure that proper performance is delivered.
