Funding for Natural Hazard Mitigation Fund

WHEREAS natural hazards such as flooding, landslides, and other natural disasters can occur throughout British Columbia; AND WHEREAS funding for the Natural Hazard Mitigation Fund or the Flood Protection Assistance Fund was not included in the 20062007 Provincial Budget: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities request that the provincial government develop a comprehensive and sustainable funding mechanism to address natural hazards, with a minimum funding level of 10 million dollars over the next five years.
