Corporate Vote in Local Government Elections

WHEREAS the Local Government Act, Chapter 323, Part 3 and 4 was amended under the local government elections section, which removed the right of corporations to have a vote; AND WHEREAS corporations contribute taxes to the operation of local governments but have no representation: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities request that the provincial government review local government election legislation and amend it accordingly to permit corporations the right to a vote in local government elections.
