Funding for Flood Protection Studies Capital works

WHEREAS local governments and dyking improvement districts were once able to construct and improve flood protection works through cost-shared funding previously received from the provincial government and these protective works have prevented extensive damage and property loss as evidenced during the flooding of October 2003; AND WHEREAS local governments and dyking improvement districts are no longer able to construct and renew flood protection works to the former extent when provincial cost-shared funding was available: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Province of British Columbia be requested to re-establish funding for flood protection studies and capital works.
