WHEREAS womens centres across the province are facing closure due to the provincial governments 100 cut of their core funding on March 31, 2004; AND WHEREAS womens centres annual core funding equals less than a dollar for each woman and child in British Columbia; AND WHEREAS womens centres have no other form of operational funding; AND WHEREAS womens centres provide unique direct services to women locally and work hard to improve the status of women at local, provincial and national levels; AND WHEREAS womens centres in this province are seeing a large increase in demand for services as they try to fill the gaps created by provincial government cutbacks: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government reverse its decision to cut core funding for the provinces womens centres.
