WHEREAS public libraries serve to enrich lives and communities through universal access to knowledge, lifelong learning, and literacy; AND WHEREAS the federal government does not make contributions to local library services that are utilized by persons living on federal lands which are not taxed to support library services: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM petition the federal government to provide a grant in lieu of taxes on federal lands to libraries, in recognition of use by persons living on federal lands located within the library service area.
