Whereas the ongoing crisis for Syrians has ignited a need for a coordinated effort of aid from all levels of government in Canada; And whereas Canada has a history of extending offers of settlement to refugees for humanitarian reasons: Therefore be it resolved that UBCM urge the federal government to act immediately to accelerate the process and to significantly increase federal commitments to receive Syrian refugees in Canada matching or exceeding historic levels.
