Regional District Powers

WHEREAS the current legislation that Regional Districts operate under does not serve the rural residents of British Columbia and creates a two class system; AND WHEREAS at the time the Community Charter was created the Province of British Columbia promised that Regional Districts would be brought into the legislation expeditiously: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that considering seven years have passed, the Union of British Columbia Municipalities urges the provincial government to grant the same powers to Regional Districts as Municipalities under the Community Charter.
