Healthy Communities Program

WHEREAS health is a provincial responsibility and the delivery of health services, including the promotion of healthy living and chronic disease prevention, are responsibilities delegated by the Province to Regional Health Authorities; AND WHEREAS the Province created the Community Health Promotion Fund to support health promotion programs and activities in communities focusing on healthy living and chronic disease prevention: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Minister of Health be informed of the UBCMs concern over the downloading of responsibility for health to local government through one-time grants under the Community Health Promotion Fund; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Minister of Health be encourage and financially support the Fraser Health Authority in increasing its efforts to promote healthy living and chronic disease prevention.
