Publishing Date

As part of Cyber Security Awareness Month, the RCMP Federal Policing Prevention and Engagement team will hold a cyber security webinar for BC local governments. Elected officials and staff members are welcome and encouraged to register for this webinar: Wednesday, October 30, 2024, 8:30am – noon.

Presentations will be made by representatives from the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) and the RCMP's Federal Policing Cyber Investigations Team (CIT).

  • CCCS representatives will provide an overview of what they do, the community services they provide, as well as their mandate and how they can help your community. They will also provide an overview of the cyber threat landscape, best practices, and social media safety.
  • The CIT presentation will examine cyber security trends and provide advice to harden cyber security protocols.
  • The RCMP will also present a case study involving an investigation on a cyber security incident at a BC local government.

This event is a follow-up to the RCMP’s Survey on Cyber Security Awareness that was included in the September 25, 2024, edition of The Compass. There is still time to fill it out before October 11.
