WHEREAS more than 90 Spirit of BC Community Committees representing over 200 communities across the province, supported by 2010 Legacies Now and the Province of BC have been actively promoting community innovation, pride and excellence, and involving British Columbians in the opportunities arising from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games; AND WHEREAS a lasting legacy of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games for all British Columbians would be a recognized provincial holiday during the month of February: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM petition the Province of British Columbia to enact a Spirit of BC Day on the third Monday of February each year.
