WHEREAS the BC-Alberta Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement TILMA will impact the decision-making ability of municipal councils by restricting, impairing or overruling elected officials authority in areas such as zoning or encouraging local economic development; AND WHEREAS the true meaning of clauses in TILMA are not yet fully understood as they relate to land use planning and other topics that have profound effects on those living in regional districts, such as the management of the Agricultural Land Reserve; AND WHEREAS the provincial government unilaterally, and without public debate, entered into TILMA and can unilaterally withdraw from the Agreement: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government be requested not to implement the BC-Alberta Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement.
