Provincial Assistance to Construct Permanent Temporary Dikes

WHEREAS in the past year many communities have faced risks of flooding from significant snowpacks and spring runoff; AND WHEREAS the threat of flooding emergency continues to require prompt coordination of action to protect the safety of persons, valuable infrastructure and limit damages to property: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities lobby the provincial government to allocate provincial resources for local governments to construct permanent and temporary dikes during flood threat situations.
