WHEREAS fire departments are being requested to more frequently attend motor vehicle accidents for the purposes of auto extrication andor fire suppression, many of which do not involve a resident of the community which is responsible for the fire department; AND WHEREAS the increased response to motor vehicle accidents represents a substantial cost to the taxpayers responsible for a small volunteer fire department: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM request that the provincial government require the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia to reimburse municipalities, regional districts, or improvement districts for the costs connected with fire department or emergency services attendance at motor vehicle accidents.
