WHEREAS the Council of the District of Tumbler Ridge is concerned about British Columbia residents working in municipalities and regional districts adjacent to the British Columbia and Alberta border who are involved in accidents that become medical emergencies; AND WHEREAS there is concern that precious medical treatment time is lost during any delay, while a decision is made as to what medical facility to direct a patient to; AND WHEREAS it would aid the medical patient in treatment and recovery time if any delay could be negated: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities request that the Minister of Health direct that British Columbia residents, during medical emergencies, be given direct access to medical facilities in the Province of Alberta, with no delay, when working adjacent to the British Columbia and Alberta border.
