WHEREAS people with mental illness and addictions have a higher risk of homelessness; AND WHEREAS up to two-thirds of people who are street homeless in some municipalities have mental illnesses or drug addictions or both: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM urge the provincial government to expand services and funding for people with mental illness and addictions throughout the Province, including actions such as increasing service delivery through Assertive Community Treatment, providing services for individuals who have a concurrent disorder, implementing the Child and Youth Mental Health Plan, increasing detox, especially for youth, providing youth residential addictions treatment, etc.
