Annual Reports Annual Meetings

WHEREAS Section 98 of the Community Charter requires Council to prepare an annual report by June 30th of each year which must include the content set out in Section 982 and Section 99 of the Community Charter and also requires Council to consider the annual report at a public meeting and accept submissions and questions from the public; AND WHEREAS these requirements place a significant additional burden on municipalities, both in terms of costs and time commitment of Council and staff, while the response and interest from the community in the annual report and the annual meeting is negligible at best: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the UBCM call on the provincial government to consider an amendment to the Community Charter to rescind the requirements for an annual report and annual meeting.
