WHEREAS in light of the many natural disasters of 2003, many isolated communities are seeking alternate routes to travel to and from their communities; AND WHEREAS a highway connection between the West Chilcotin and Vanderhoof would represent an economic, cultural, recreational and security opportunity to British Columbia as well as the residents of the West Chilcotin and Vanderhoof area: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of BC Municipalities lobby the provincial government for legal, maintained road access from Anahim Lake to Vanderhoof.
