WHEREAS the application of Provincial Sales Tax to the British Columbia film industry diminishes the provincial film industrys ability to attract and retain film production, resulting in the loss of hundreds of millions of dollars; AND WHEREAS no major competing jurisdiction in Canada applies Provincial Sales Tax to film production; AND WHEREAS no major competing state in the United States applies State Sales Tax to film production: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the provincial government be requested to eliminate the application of Provincial Sales Tax to the British Columbia film industry to ensure British Columbias competitiveness in attracting film and television production to the province.
