Requirements for Public Notice

WHEREAS under the Local Government Act and the Community Charter, local governments are required to provide the public with notice of certain issues it is considering and requires applicable notices to be published in a newspaper; AND WHEREAS each British Columbia community has unique resources, needs and desires and the public is increasingly requesting to be supplied information in a variety of ways: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that UBCM lobby the provincial government to amend the Local Government Act and the Community Charter to permit local governments to determine, by bylaw, requirements for public notice for their communities.
