Pensions in Canada: Policy Reform Because Women Matter

WHEREAS Vancouver City Council endorsed the position paper Pensions in Canada: Policy Reform Because Women Matter Appendix B to the report Pensions in Canada: Policy Reform Because Women Matter dated April 14, 2005 created by Women Elders in Action WEACT, along with its 23 recommendations Appendix A of the report to improve the economic situation for senior women, many of whom live alone in poverty: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that local government elected officials raise the need for pension reform to improve the economic situation for senior women, in relevant discussions with the federal government, whenever possible.
