Elimination of Plastic Bags

WHEREAS plastic bags are detrimental to the environment and take hundreds of years to deteriorate at our landfills; AND WHEREAS drifting scattered plastic bags have an adverse effect on wildlife and marine biology with respect to ingestion and cause digestive death: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Province of British Columbia pass legislation to eliminate thin film plastic bags for shopping applications and encourage the use of reusable grocery bags or recyclable paper bags.
