Search Rescue

WHEREAS Search and Rescue is part of the Provincial Emergency Program and requires volunteers to donate their time for training and conducting search and rescues throughout the Province; AND WHEREAS Search and Rescue does not receive federal or provincial funding for operational costs; AND WHEREAS, only 65 of the training costs are paid for by the Province which creates a financial hardship on the volunteers willing to participate in Search and Rescue: THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Union of British Columbia Municipalities be requested to petition the Province of BC to allocate adequate operational funding for Search and Rescue so that volunteers can be fully reimbursed for training costs incurred.
